200 Carpenter Ave, AustinAt least 3 manhole coverings on Slayton and Carpenter are not securely in place and moving significantly. They. make tremendous noise when driven over them, and this happens all night long across multiple manholes. This street was just “refinished” but the result is worse than before and the contractors did a sloppy job on the fittings of the manhole coverings.

There was a sealcoat in 2025 and a fog seal in 2026. None of these treatments affected the manhole covers. There is an active CIP project "Little Walnut Creek- Glen Ln/ Slayton Dr Storm Sewrer Improvements" that may have placed paving on a section of Carpenter Ave. Project Manager is Cristina Acuna Cristina.Acuna@austintexas.gov who can contact the resident and determine if that project affected the manhole covers and can take corrective action if that CIP Project was a factor. /.
