I checked the sidewalks along Wheeless and Gaston and noticed that the weeds are currently high. I have informed the crews so they can add these areas to the mowing schedule. They will also collect the trash that is present in the channel. Additionally, I made the Homeless Strategy Office aware of the campers located next to the creek on Gaston Drive so they can follow up regarding that concern. First, after searching the City database and TCAD, I was unable to determine who owns the property. The Watershed Department does have an easement at this location and has performed erosion work in the past. Currently, the channel is under review to determine whether mowing should be stopped. However, it will continue to be mowed as a right-of-way by the Public Works Department. Watersheds responsibility is to maintain the flowline to prevent any flooding. The Vegetation Control Program is to keep the conveyance in the creek channel to prevent flooding. Watershed does not maintain any trees. If tree limbs are encroaching on private property, the property owners are allowed to remove what is in their property. The citizen was contacted and left a voicemail with this information.
