We see drivers unsafely speeding down despite the signs we have. There are no stop signs or bumpers on Antone; it is a “straight shot” street. We have had one child fatality on Antone and one fatality at the intersection of airport and Antone (21 year old youth). On Tom miller we also have people unsafely speeding. No stop signs or bumpers on Tom miller either. 1917 Antone St, AustinPlease install speed tables on Antone St between 1917-2216 in memory of the two children who were struck by cars on our street and died from their injuries. The neighbors have purchased a radar gun to confirm hourly vehicle speeds in the 40s despite the posted 25mph limit. Multiple school buses pick up/drop off on this street. It has remained a straight shot between Airport and Berkman despite the parallel street, Zach Scott, being broken up by multiple stop signs over the years.

I explained to her that speed data in our speed management program is good for 3 years. Blessing Ave was last studied 4 years ago. I explained to her the Speed Management Program for speed mitigation devices and that the current list is now closed and that she needs to reapply on October 1, 2024. She was satisfied with the information. No further action required at this time.

Requestor please be advise that I have emailed the Speed Management manager to have Bristle Oak Trail be added to our Dynamic Speed Display Device (DSDD) list. DSDDs are installed on curbside poles to display speeds of approaching vehicles and to encourage drivers to reduce their speeds. These signs are deployed for approximately six weeks before being rotated to other locations throughout City of Austin. The installment date is dependent on the DSDD que list.
