    Speed management

    CLOSED #24-00167114

Contacted Resident No Further Action - Close SR. Sent requester the following email: """ Hello, I'm following up on your Austin 3-1-1 request regarding concerns of vehicle speeds on Farmhaven Road. Our department understands and shares your concerns regarding speeding. The City of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) manages the city-wide Speed Management Program to equitably distribute limited City resources to improve safety and quality of life issues pertaining to speeding on level 1 (local) and level 2 (collector) streets. To meet this goal, TPW created an evaluation procedure to proactively prioritize streets city-wide for speed mitigation treatments in a data driven approach outlined here (see "Traffic Calming Methodology" tab). This approach includes a balanced consideration of crash history, the built street environment, adjacent land uses, and speed profile, allowing TPW to prioritize implementation of traffic calming projects city-wide based on greatest need. Farmhaven Road has been ranked in the program and to see the most recent ranking in the city-wide program as of June, 2023 please visit TrafficCalming_6.2023_Rankings_FINAL.pdf (austintexas.gov). While funding has not yet been identified for traffic calming on Farmhaven Road through the Speed Management Program, it is relatively higher ranked than many streets. We are currently discussing with other City mobility programs to identify potential funding for improvements along Farmhaven Road between Harris Branch Parkway and Bellingham Drive to establish a more comprehensive approach to address pedestrian crossing and vehicle speed concerns. While the process continues I encourage you to please reach out to your Austin Police Department District Representatives | AustinTexas.gov for potential enforcement of the speed limit. Thank you, """.
