  • Street Resurfacing

    814 E 46th St, Austin

When the city recently repaved 46th St between Red River and Caswell, they removed the channel that had been added several years ago to allow water to drain down the street properly. We had tried to get the city to fix the problem for years, as the water pools so deep that it sits for days, it forces pedestrians to walk out into busy Red River St to cross 46th, and definitely makes it impossible for disabled people to use the curb ramp. Please come back out and re-install the drainage channel.

No Action Needed - Close SR. Class: WORKORDER Created By: Log Type: NO_ACTION Summary: See details. Details Thank you for contacting City of Austin regarding pavement maintenance operations in your neighborhood. The treatment that is scheduled is a fog seal, in which asphalt emulsion (no rocks) will be placed as a thin surface treatment on the existing pavement. It is part of the pavement maintenance cycle and has been proven to help lock in rocks from seal coats performed 1-2 years prior. The seal coat rocks fill small cracks and prevent them from worsening. The fog seal insures that they continue to do that. All of this reduces the need for more extensive (and expensive) maintenance in the years to come. /this was one of about 60 streets City wide each year where the fog seal treatment was considered to be the best treatment to preserve the underlying pavement/. With further questions, please call 311.
