Under Review for New Guardrail - Close SR. Class: WORKORDER Created By: ESPEYW Log Type: NWGRDRAIL_REVIEW Summary: Investigated Location Details The Transportation Engineering Division (TED) in Public Works Department (TPW) is responsible for installing and maintaining traffic control devices along City of Austin streets, which can include signs and markings as per the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) guidelines. TED will explore the feasibility of installing two median islands with vertical posts on Childress Drive near its intersection with Kendal Drive. Median islands separate opposing directions of traffic and narrow the width of the roadway, inducing drivers to reduce their speed. Also, TED will install a curve warning sign on Childress Drive in advance of this intersection. Thank you again for contacting the City of Austin. Safety is our number one priority. If you should have any questions or would like to discuss this issue further, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Daniel Wheat, Graduate Engineer, at 512-974-7614 or via email at daniel.wheat@austintexas.gov .
