- Description
- Allerton Ave leading to Gorzycki. Numerous cars parked on the bike lane - illegal in Austin. This is a complete mess and there is zero traffic control. This takes place every school day at 4pm. Simply closing reports like this as “resolved” is the reason this problem continues. Wasted community resources on bike lanes plus a high risk of injury to pedestrians, cyclists, and students.

Evaluated/Addressed Issue - Close SR. The Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Department has installed a safer routes to school project for students and families at Gorzycki Middle School and Mills Elementary School. The final design was shaped by community feedback heard initially in 2022 and further refined with comments received in subsequent outreach efforts. The project is not fully installed. A centerline was added on Allerton Avenue and additional changes will be made to add more parking spaces. For more information about the project, visit the project webpage here: https://data.austintexas.gov/stories/s/Safer-Routes-to-Gorzycki-Middle-and-Mills-Elementa/g3i2-3b7e/.
