Future Resurfacing Planned - Close SR. Class: SR Created By: Log Type: FUTURE_RESURF Summary: Update Details Big Trail Circle was slurry sealed in 2016. Slurry seal is a very thin surface treatment, much like a paint, and usually has a service life of 8 to 12 years, however, on this street, the treatment is showing signs of failure. While still safe, the surface is likely to continue to deteriorate, and normally would be scheduled for new resurfacing within the next 2 to 3 years. Big Trail Street had a sealcoat treatment in 2016, and is in better condition, and is forecast for resurfacing in the next 2 to 6 years. However, both streets have been included in an Austin Water pipe replacement project Water Services Package 4- Full Replacement within Construction Project Area currently under design with an April 2027 start date. The project appears to include a large number of other stresses in the area, and the total completion date is forecast as September 2036. A construction sequence has not yet been established, and some streets are likely to be repaved before then as the pipes are replaced. Each year the City's Street resurfacing program is reviewed and coordinated with these types of utility projects. Streets with no utility work conflicts are budgeted as part of the annual Service Plan. While an exact date for Big Trail Circle and Big Trail street resurfacing is not known, the condition of the pavement will be considered in preparing the Service Plan. If potholes develop before this pipe work, please call 311 with the address and patching will be done.
