Field Inspection Conducted - Close SR. The email below was sent on 11/25/2025. Good afternoon Matthew, Thank you for contacting the City of Austin. My name is Stephen Barkley and I am following up on our phone call regarding a view obstruction caused by construction fencing on the northeast corner of Casey Street and Gillis Street. Typically, in these types of situations I contact the construction Foreman to let them know of the Code violation of keeping street corners clear of view obstructions and request they move back the fence to allow drivers to view oncoming traffic. However, in this instance there is no contact information listed regarding who oversees the upcoming construction. To be of further assistance I have contacted a City of Austin Right of Way Inspector requesting they assist in having the fence pulled back to have the obstruction abated. While this process plays out, I recommend taking an alternative route if you do not feel comfortable taking a left/southbound turn from Casey Street onto Gillis Street. Thank you again for contacting the City. If there is anything else I can assist you with, please let me know. Regards, Stephen.
