View Obstruction and Fencing at Intersection

Field Inspection Conducted - Close SR. Good afternoon, Thank you for contacting the City of Austin. My name is Stephen Barkley and I am with Austin Transportation and Public Works. I am responding to your 311-service request regarding a view obstruction on Dempsey Lane at its approach with W. Dittmar Road. I conducted a field visit to this location on March 24, 2026. While there I was able to drive down Dempsey Lane and stop at the stop bar to make sure there were no pedestrians present. After I stopped and confirmed there were no pedestrians, I was able to slowly pull forward up to Dittmar Road and was able to view traffic traveling along Dittmar Road without my view being obstructed. In short, the fencing does not constitute a view obstruction because after stopping at the stop bar to ensure there are no pedestrian present, you can slowly pull forward until you can view traffic traveling along Dittmar Road without entering the travel lane.
