Vegetation Maintenance - Close SR. Summary: Pond Flag 556 Details: *Pond Flag 556: * This pond is maintained three times annually. The contractor last mowed the pond on February 17, 2026. This pond also has a wet pond associated with it; however, it is not maintained by our wet pond contractor and must be maintained privately. Typically, our wet pond contractor stocks the ponds we maintain with gambusia, a native species of fish that eats mosquito larvae. However, typically mosquitoes do not like to lay their eggs in moving water or deep water. They prefer to lay their eggs in very shallow, still water that collects in things like old tires, gutters, plant pots, tarps, and the like. The warmer weather always brings an influx of mosquitoes to our area. Watershed recommends looking around your own yard to see if you can determine any source of shallow, still water they may be laying their eggs in.
