OBSERVATION: Hearing a coyote, seeing scat, or footprints only, but not actually seeing the actual animal. SIGHTING: Seeing a coyote moving or resting in the area, entering a yard without pets present, or seeing it around parks or school grounds but no attempted contact is made by the coyote. ENCOUNTER: A coyote following or approaching a person with or without a pet or entering a yard with people or pets in it but no injury occurring. INCIDENT: Coyotes being aggressive, growling, lunging, and nipping without contact; or coyotes entering a yard and acting aggressively towards domesticated pets.
