    Do Not Recommend Signs or Markings - Close SR. 7/15/25 - Talked with Stephen about his request for a marked crosswalk on East Highland Mall Boulevard at Thomas Hatfield Way. I explained to him that this is a level 3 road with 4 lanes and would need a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon. I informed him that there has already been a similar request for this location and has been submitted to the pedestrian crossing program. I gave Stephen the contact email pedcrossings@austintexas.gov to find out the status of this request.

    Traffice mitigation island was installed. It doesnt seem any neighbors were consulted. Whats confusing is there were ALREADY 2 traffic islands at crosswalks/intersections about 150 feet on each side. This one is not and a crossing to nowhere, doesnt make sense, and isnt ADA compliant. Why? Can someone provide detail as to WHO asked for this? No one near this installation asked for it.

    Do Not Recommend Signs or Markings - Close SR. Will not be recommending the installation of an additional pedestrian island, as there are already two modified crossing installed along the roadway. The resident appears to have selected the incorrect request type and actually wanted information about the median island that have been installed to help mitigate a speeding concern another citizen had requested. I've emailed the resident explaining the purpose of the median island along Travis Green Lane.
