Issue Has Been Resolved - Close SR. The City recently evaluated left turn operations at this intersection. As part of this evaluation, we studied intersection characteristics, crash history, and other safety and mobility factors. Based on this evaluation, we have protected this/these left turn(s) only to improve safety and reduce the risk of severe crashes. We will continue to monitor this location's operations and safety performance to determine if additional adjustments are needed in the future.

    915 W 38th St, Austin

    CLOSED #25-00233356

Issue Has Been Resolved - Close SR. This signal has broken vehicle detection. While detection is broken, each direction will receive a minimum amount of green time even if no vehicles are present. This detection is on a list to be repaired. Thanks.

  • Traffic Signal - Modification

    100 W 3rd St, Austin

I've never seen the protected left arrow activate at this light on third and congress. This intersection would be much safer if it did. This is for the westward direction.

    CLOSED #25-00231575

Issue Has Been Resolved - Close SR. While it is understood and agreed that the signal would be safer for left turning vehicles if the left turn arrow was operational, we are unable to operate this left turn and also provide leading pedestrian intervals for peds at this location. It has been decided to prioritize the pedestrian safety from turning vehicles at this time. Optimally, we would be able to replace the left turn head with a four section head with flashing yellow arrow, but this requires a dedicated left turn lane, which we do not have at this location. In addition, other signals in the corridor are able to operate the left turn and the leading pedestrian interval, but this requires to run the lefts at the end of the through movement, which we can only do when the cross street is a one-way in order to prevent a condition called yellow trap for opposing left turning vehicles. We apologize that we cannot accommodate your request at this time but appreciate your feedback.

Traffic light left turn arrow into office park takes over 5 minutes to change so most people are ignoring it and turning on a red arrow. Many people drive 60 mph on this road.
