Contacted Resident No Further Action - Close SR. 4/1/26 - Emailed requestor 'Thank you for contacting the City of Austin with your concerns about speeding on W 12th St between Exposition Blvd and Winsted Ln. The Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) understands and shares your concerns about speeding. Requests for speed mitigation devices, such as speed cushions, on Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP) Level 1 and Level 2 residential streets must go through our Speed Management Program. Through this program, speed study cycles are performed every six months starting in October and April, during which the City accepts up to 60 requests. Once a street has been accepted into a cycle, traffic data is collected and used, along with other inputs, to assign a score and rank it against all other streets with traffic data. Typically, the top 5-15 streets each year are selected for a robust traffic calming project based on available funding, staffing, and contract capacity. The street ranking list is cumulative, meaning a street will continue to be ranked in future cycles as new streets are added. Your request for a speed study is accepted and will be studied in the next study cycle for the Speed Management Program. Please note that TPW accepting your request does not guarantee that your street will be funded for speed management. However, once speed data is collected, your street will be ranked with all other eligible streets in Austin. After the rankings are completed, TPW will publish the results on the Speed Management webpage so that you may review which projects were selected in this cycle.'.
